Xiaomi EV, the company's arm for electric vehicles, has introduced a major upgrade to its driver-assistance system. The new Xiaomi HAD Enhanced Edition uses improved smart driving tech and a “world model” that helps the car predict what may happen next on the road. The new technology is built from the original system, which learned from 10 million video clips of real drivers. It's an upgrade that comes as a result of all the development employed in the past release, and will continue to grow over the next years.

The New World Model That Will Power Xiaomi Vehicles

A “world model” works like an internal simulation. It lets the computer read traffic, guess likely outcomes, and react more naturally. In a certain way, it tries to emulate an experienced driver. Many car brands in China are racing toward this type of technology, and Xiaomi is pushing it hard to stay ahead. These upgrades can improve safety in real situations. The Enhanced Edition brings a stronger AEB system.
It helps the car brake quickly when a crash is likely. It also adds a new AES feature that lets the car steer away from danger when braking alone cannot prevent an accident. Despite all these enhancements, drivers must stay alert. This is not autonomous driving; it is still only assistance.
Xiaomi plans to invest more than RMB 7 billion in smart driving next year. The team already has over 1,800 members, including more than 100 with PhDs. The strong team shows how serious the company is about improving its EV technology.
