Knock-off JiaYu G4 costs almost double the price of the real thing!

This knock-off JiaYu G4 available in China claims to have the same specifications and the G4 Advanced buy costs almost double the price!

When I first arrived in China the local grey markets were flooded with knock of versions of Motorola and Nokia phones, a few years later the first iPhone clones arrived and ever since knock-off Chinese phones have continued to launch.

But a change in trend has taken place in the past 12 months. Instead of targeting large international brands, small Chinese manufacturers are now producing knock-off versions of popular Chinese phones. The first we ever saw was a Meixu M9 clone, then Xiaomi fakes with exploding batteries have become a problem, and now even JiaYu isn’t immune!

Gizchina News of the week

This JiaYu G4 clone was spotted by a GizChina reader Loukas on the popular Chinese shopping portal Taobao. According the the specifications the phone features a 1.5Ghz quad-core processor, 4.7-inch 854 x 480 display 8 mega-pixel rear camea and runs Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.

Oddly where as the genuine JiaYu G4 is on sale in China from 999-1300 Yuan ($162-$212) here in China this fake is priced at double the price with the vendor asking 1940 – 2060 Yuan ($316 – $336)!

So beware! Fake Jiayu G4 phones are now on sale!

I would like buying any international brand name with high price and not buying any chines phone even its chines brand and more sophisticated than that intel brand.

I have this from my experience. I advice all to do that, warranty is big issue and safety also…

And how can you tell the difference between original Jiayu G4 and clone? I order from DHGate in presale, and it also costs about 280 USD. This article does not really say much, as far as I can see preorder prices in international shops are about 330USD. Are they all fakes now?

That could be a problem for sure

Fake has no metal frame , has a centered back camera and looks like there is no black version fakes…

Sale title: Jiayu G4 advanced 1.5Ghz quad-core Android 4.0 (not 4.2 like the real one)

Where in China is safe to buy real Jiayu G4? Do they have some big electronics retailers in China like MediaMarkt, Electroworld, Best Buy?
