Why Elephone chose to go with the MediaTek Helio X27 on the S8

Mediatek Helio X27

This December MediaTek launched the latest iteration of their flagship CPU, i.e. the Helio X27. But what does the new processor bring up to the table? Let’s find out!

Mediatek Helio X27

Uncompromised Performance in Games

Mediatek Helio X27

The display can be refreshed at up to 120 fps for crisp and responsive scrolling of web content and maps, and with an ARM Mali-T880 MP4 GPU up to 875MHz, it yields uncompromised performance in games with high-resolution graphics.

Dual-cameras, Depth of field, Less image noise

Mediatek Helio X27

The MediaTek Helio X27 is designed for smartphones with dual-cameras and includes color and mono sensor support. This multiple-sensor design can capture three times the light of a traditional sensor, thus reducing image noise and increasing quality.

It features a built-in 3D depth engine for depth of field processing, as well as multi-scale de-noise engines, for faster response time between shots and unprecedented detail, color, and sharpness, even under extreme conditions.

Tri-cluster, Smoother performance, Longer battery life

Mediatek Helio X27

With three clusters, the processor can delegate simple tasks to one cluster of cores, while directing more complex (and more power-hungry) tasks to the other clusters.
For example, if the smartphone is doing only simple tasks, such as sending text messages or running the calculator on one cluster, the other clusters can power down ready for when required, therefore, driving both smoother, responsive performance and an extended battery life.

In addition, the MediaTek Helio X27 includes the latest MiraVision EnergySmart Screen to further enhance power efficiency by 25%.

The powerful MediaTek Helio X27 will soon appear in a very interesting handset, i.e. the Elephone S8.

Continuining the work they have done with the Elephone S7 and its dual edge-less display, the Elephone S8 will go up a notch in terms of appearance and will feature a stuning edge-less display design like what we’ve seen on the Xiaomi Mi Mix, with the display almost covering the entire front of the phone. With a curved glass back to achieve a premium feeling which encases a camera and fingerprint scanner.

Obviously these are only rumors yet, but it would be really exciting to see a device such as that, pushing everybody else to do the same as well. 2017 is going to be a very interesting year!

Yet another Ele-glorifying article… Ele – you’d better start distributing S7 instead of spreading rumours about S8…

Because it is. Why is this not disclosed in the article? So unprofessional

Duh. We know why… it’d be the latest Mediatek chip ready to be ruined by the likes of Elephone & UMi until Xiaomi or 360 have a go at it!

And the likes of Elephone, Vernee & UMi are more than ready to ruin it for everyone until Xiaomi or 360 have a go at it muuuuch later.

elephone elephone.. overly ambitious, over promise and underdeliver.. so sad,. the S7 isn’t even 2 months old and they already have its replacement. but knowing them and how they work, the bezeless S8 will either never launch, launch with different design and features or never launch at all.. I kepp remembering their P20 and P9000 EDGE models.. coz I had a real interest in the latter but they ended up disappointing me

Just a scam mate, not overly ambitious.
Their phones comes with a lot of hype and are always pretty to look, but fail to deliver in every aspect.

Because it can’t get Snapdragon chips and MTK is way cheaper 😀
Grow up, unparalleled gaming, yet the T880 doesn’t support Vulkan and Kirin 950 using the same graphics provides better frame rates, due to better bus speeds and chip optimizations.
Waiting for Helio X30 and P30.

X27 is not really bad, but in 2 months Mediatek will release X30 and i think (and suggest) that Elephone will use X30 for S8 flagship, also because i think that s8 will be available on Q2 2017

I think you’re optimistic! With the bad habit that lately, in my opinion will be released in summer.
We could make a list of those models are still awaiting release, although have been announced long time ago….

I also believe that in the end they will use the X30 chipset, or worse, if happens that they release it soon, they will do as they have done with S7, that invented the enhanced version with X25.

They could have gone with a way better and newer processor, I really don’t understand why they didn’t go with x30 (isn’t it better??) on a model with this

So many technical details, for a casual user, who just wants to have an ability to call and surf the net, this isn’t really relevant, but for a techie, like me, it is just perfect! Getting into details and knowing more about the specifications of s8

I’m hoping the final product won’t look like that render.. looks really weird, needs a physical button or something at the bottom

I agree with those who say that they should equip it with the X30 of imminent release. The X30 version turns out to be better than one snapdragon 821, in that case there would be a hard time for everyone!
