Digitimes are reporting a sharp increase in prices for HDDās over the past few weeks with 500 GB HDDās shooting up in price from $45 to $100.
PC makers are apparently panic buying to fill their HDD inventories, with operational factories straining to keep up with demand, working at up to double their regular capacity.
The shortages are also expected to boost the demand for SSD equipped laptops and āultrabooksā such as Asus super thin Zenbook and Appleās Macbook Air.
