Taiwanese based mobile
CPU maker
Mediatek are working on their
Quad-core MT6589 CPU which should see
production by January, however the big
news is that this new chip could support 4G
LTE! Could 4G
LTE Chinese phones just be around the corner?
While Chinese phones have been catching up on their foreign counterparts in terms of quality and performance, while beating them all on price, one area which they seem to fail on is network compatibility.
As most of these lower price
high performance Chinese phones are designed for the
Chinese market the chips in them only tend to support local frequencies, meaning many foreign customers are out of luck when trying to buy a bargain phone from China which will work on their 3G.
However, good news might just be over the horizon as rumours suggest that the next quad-core Mediatek MT6589 CPU could in fact support LTE and may see production as early as January 2013 with many manufacturers already testing prototypes.
Chinese phone manufacturers who currently use MediaTek chips such as Lenovo, Zopo, Newman, JiaYu, Amoi, Ginoee, ETC could all soon be taking on the international market with low-cost, high performance 4G LTE Chinese phones!
