Lai Shi have unveiled their plans for the first half of 2013 and are readying not one, not two but 2 MT6589 quad-core phablets ranging from $207 to $271.
The 3 phablets, MX36, MX86 and MX56, all offer similar hardware the same amount of RAM and 1.2 Ghz MT6589 quad-core processors, but will be offered in either 5-inch, 5.3-inch or 5.7-inch screen sizes.
Each of the 3 phones will offer the same CPU, 1GB RAM, 4GB of built-in memory and 8 mega-pixel rear, 2 mega-pixel front camera, with a few changes here and there to keep them in budget.
The MX36 might be the cheapest phone of the 3 at 1299 Yuan ($207), but strangely it doesn’t offer the smallest display and instead sits in the middle of the 3 phones at 5.3-inches. There is a 3000mAh battery powering the phone, Android 4.1 as standard while screen resolution has been kept at 960 x 540 for cost reasons.
The MX56 is the smallest phone at 5-inches, but with a higher 720HD resolution. Being physically smaller the MX56 can only accommodate a 2500mAh battery, but to make up for that Lai Shi have loaded the latest version of Jelly Bean, Android 4.2, on the phone. The Lai Shi MX56 will go on sale at 1299 ($207)
At the top end of the Lai Shi line we have the 5.7-inch MX86. Although the screen is much larger than the other two phones the 86 has the same 1280 x 720 resolution as the 5-inch MX56. It also gets Android 4.2, but there is a larger 3000mAh battery to help power the bigger display for longer!
Lai Shi plan to launch their MT6589 phablets later this year.
