Popular
Beijing based phone maker,
Xiaomi, will relaunch their much anticipated
Xiaomi Box Android TV later this morning with pricing starting at just 299 Yuan ($48).
Xiaomi originally
launched the
Xiaomi Box late last year, but due to licencing issues with the content the
Android powered set top
box could
show, Xiaomi's content delevery service was canceled and left the stealthy
box useless. Those issues have been fixed this time though and the
device is going back
on sale.
Pre-orders will begin at 10am (
Beijing time) through
Xiaomi's official online store. The
first batch will go
on sale for 299 Yuan with remote control, with later batches expected to raise in price to 399 Yuan ($64).
Running a modified version of
Android (not Google
TV), the
Xiaomi box can be used to stream content and games to HD TV's. The
device can be controlled with the supplied remote or Android app, and is even compatible with Apple's Airplay.
