UMi S1 Hands on Video HTC Butterfly Clone

More evidence that the UMi S1 could go on sale ahead of the UMi X2 in this hands on video of the next quad-core MT6589 phone.

The UMi S1 is quite a departure from what the brand is known for. The UMi X1, X1s and X2 are largely unique in design, although their are a few similarities between the Xiaomi M1 and the UMi X1, but neither phone could be descried as a clone.

Gizchina News of the week

The UMi S1 however can easily be described as a clone. This new phone looks almost identical to the HTC Butterfly/Droid DNA. Everything about the S1 from the red and black colour scheme to the 5-inch display looks like it has been lifted straight from the HTC device!

There are obviously differences though. The UMi S1 runs on a quad-core Mediatek CPU with 1GB RAM for starters. The display is a 5inch 720p unit rather than full HD 1080, and cameras are 5 mega-pixel front 12 mega-pixel rear.

Chinese online reseller Antelife are current listing the UMi S1 as available fro pre-order at a price of $229.99 which suggests to us the flagship X2 is going to be priced closer to $299.99 when it reaches resellers!

UMI put their logo on a Butterfly clone..
Why not buy the Star S5 version of the HTC clone?
And I think will be more than 10 names for the same HTC clone made in the same factory which is not the Star factory or the UMI factori, but the one which is making all smartphones for these unkown brands.
    Next. 😉

And the photoshoped UMI logo is not even centered with the camera lens if you will look carefully.
But you are right is the X920 (the one with smaller 2020mAh battery) not the S5 Star model.

star s5 is thinner and has (at least promised) a 2500mah battery. but s5 has not so nice back cover , the camera hole, the shiny color. sad. would be so much better if they made it slimmer or at least add a bigger battery, considering this thickness.

yes, so probably it’s just the picture that is fake

The S1 has been seen with both UMi and S1 logos on, I guess UMi are deciding what graphics they should go for still.

Does S1 support WCDMA 900 MHZ? Antelife’s store claims it support 850 MHz but not 900MHz. Some other sites claims it support WCDMA 900MHz.
Secondly, does it support Google Play store? I didn’t saw it in Antelife’s video in Youtube. Also version in video is rather different what I have seen in other Android devices. Does it have some special version of Android?

Chinese are not smart enough to think the 900MHz which is needed for international sales can increase their sales. How much is to add the 900Mhz band? Mabye $0.50?
