Xiaomi laptop rumoured to launch in August

Since Xiaomi began they have gone from start-up phone maker to an electronics phenomenon with their own Android TV Box, clothing and soon their own laptop computers.

The rumours appeared on Weibo (Chinese Twitter) earlier today and claim that Xiaomi are working on its own 15.6-inch 1080p laptop with a retail price of just 3999 Yuan ($650). Sources claim that the Xiaomi laptop will run a Intel Core i7 processor with 8GB RAM and GT660M graphics.

No news on what operating system the Xiaomi laptop might run, but we believe it will be a highly customised MIUI version of Linux. xiaomi laptop leak

They should be building detachable ultrabook tablets. Seems to be the way of the other manufacturers.

A real laptop is a lot more better than one of those hybrids. Also, am I the only one who finds it surprising that Xiaomi have yet to tread in the tablet part of the market?

All Chinese manufacturer have this tendency to announce all high end device ages before they are released… this is believe is a marketing strategy just to make people believe that they are not far behind Samsung or apple… but in reality they are years behind yhr big companies …

Just admit you’ve never used a Xiaomi product. Truly, anyone who has ever used a Xiaomi product will know what true quality and value for money means. Trust me, once you’ve used a Xiaomi phone, you’ll never look back. Ever.

Don’t underestimate Xiaomi. I’m not a fan of their phones nor of their deceptive marketing, but unlike the brands typically covered by this website, Xiaomi has the capital to back up whatever they feel like doing today, or next week, or next year. And in the unlikely event they run out, Lei Jun can call up one or more within his circle of friends and secure another round of funding.
