While most manufacturers seem to be focusing on
smartphones and phablets (
Apple being the exception),
Chinese giant
Lenovo put their latest offering on
sale yesterday the 7" IdeaTab S5000.
The device is a budget
tablet with a MediatTek
processor. Priced
RMB 1,588 ($260) for the WiFi only variant and
RMB 1,888 ($310) for the WiFi+3G variant, the Ideapad S5000 comes with a 1280 x 800 screen, MT8135 quad-core processor, 1GB of
RAM, 16GB of ROM, a 5 mega-pixel main camera, 1.6 mega-pixel front-facing camera, and the usual connectivity set including WiFi and Bluetooth v4.0.
The
tablet will come with
Android v4.2.2 out of the box and will be powered by a 3,450mAh battery.
Lenovo would hope to compete against a range of locally-branded tablets and the likes of Nexus 7 (2012). The
Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 can be bought via the Lenovo Online Store.
