Xiaomi Hongmi price reduced to $115 in China

Xiaomi’s popular Hongmi phone has been under attack from rival low-cost smartphones for the past few months, Xiaomi’s response? Reduce the retail price of the already cheap Hongmi!

The Xiaomi Hongmi launched ealier last year at an incredible 799 Yuan here in China. Since the launch though rival phones from Huawei, Voto, Little Pepper, iOcean and JiaYu have threatened over take the MIUI equipped phone. To throw the market back in their favour Xioami plans to reduce the price of the Hongmi to just 699 Yuan ($115), over $15 cheaper than the it’s nearest rivals!

The price drop also falls Xiaomi’s pattern of reducing current phone prices ahead of the launch of a new model. With rumours of a Xiaomi Hongmi 2 on the way, the reduction isn’t all that surprising.

The Xiaomi Hongmi is a the most afforable phone in the Xiaomi range and features a 1280 x 720 display, quad-core 1.5Ghz MT6589T processor, 1GB RAM, Samsung 8 mega-pixel rear camera, dual-SIM support and micro SD card reader.
