iOcean X8 Kitkat update is now official

iOcean have updated the status of their Android Kitkat update for the iOcean X8 from beta to an official public release.

When the iOcean X8 launched earlier this year it was one of the most highly anticipated Mediatek flagships. The phone featured an octacore MT6592 processor, 2GB RAM, 1080 display and a great looking all glass and alloy design which gave the affordable phone a premium look and feel.

The only thing that was missing was Android Kitkat as the phone shipped with Android 4.2 instead. Since the release we have seen a beta version of Kitkat launch for the X8, and now that testing has finished a final build for the phone has been released.

Gizchina News of the week

We haven’t tried the new update for ourselves, but judging from previous comments about the beta version of the system, we hope that all the bugs and issues that were encountered by early users have been fixed.

Great news for whoever owns an X8 and all the X7 users are, once again, left in the dark with their 4.2.2. It is quite a shame that all these great phones do never get any updates. Buy and throw it away after a few months because you do not get any security patches. Not very nice. A Smartphone should get firmware updates, all of them, not just the flagship ones.
