5.2-inch Coolpad X7 unveiled with MT6595 chipset

coolpad x7

Coolpad are hoping to make up for some lost time against the Lenovo Vibe X2 and Meizu MX4 with their own MT6595 powered phone the Coolpad X7.

Also known as the Coolpad 8690, the phone uses a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 display, 2GB RAM, has 16GB of internal memory and runs Android 4.4.2 kitkat. Camera specifications haven’t been revealed yet, but we can see a dual LED flash is part of the photography equipment on hand.

Coolpad have used sandwiched the metal chassis of the X7 between to sheets of glass. Those who have had their hands on the phone have commented that the build quality is “exquisite”

The final details we know about the phone are that it has LTE and has room for dual SIM cards, and that there may also be a Snapdragon 801 version of the phone (are Coolpad saying the 6956 and 801 are comparable?).

So far pricing of the Coolpad X7 is unknown, but the company have said they want to make the phone as affordable as possible and are obviously after a similar target audience as other current MT6595 smartphones on the market only at a price of less than the Meizu MX4!

Less than 5.5 inch screen. Not for me. I am all for phones of 5.5 to 6.0 inches screen size.

speaking about phones, 4.7-5.0 is the limit for me, as I can’t put in my pocket bigger phones. if I had to take a bag to carry the phone, I’d have an 8+ inch tablet at that point, I find 5.5 to 6.5 phablets useless!

I suppose we all have our preferences when it comes to these devices.

Getting so fed up with those kind of huge upper and lower bezels. I’m losing patience here. Samsung figured it out but they got stuck with the home button and they stopped last year. LG took a bit longer but at least they started to shrink all bezels. How many god damn years does an OEM need to figure out something this obvious?
Seriously ,what the hell is this thing, a concept from the 60’s? And Coolpad is one of the top 10 phone makers, i bet they are proud of their design because it has glass on the back.
Funny enough this might be the worst Coolpad design we’ve seen in a while.
And it’s not about looks ,the bezels are just hardware bulk,it’s inefficient to have any.

Just had to vent a bit, another article here about Xiaomi making a good looking phone annoyed me and set my mind on design so seeing this device was too much.

Edit: a more recent Mydrivers article has full specs and price.
    5.2 inch 1080p, MT6595 (quad A17) , 3GB RAM , 16GB NAND and microSD , 8MP an 13MP cams 146.6 x 73.6 x 6.45 mm
    starts at 1599CNY (257$)
Apparently there is a version with SD801 with more bands and higher price but through Google Translate it’s hard to be fully sure what’s what.

why are you so mad about the bezels? there are components and battery inside the phone, being an unibody phone which aims to stay thin, where do they put all the hardware?
and mt6595 is an octa-core, not a quad.

257 dollars for international buyers? Vifocal has listed it today for 357 dollars. I think it is too much.
