Meizu could launch a 5-inch m1 mini at the end of this month!

meizu m1 mini

Meizu bosses promised last year that they would launch 4 new phones in a year, perhaps they meant the Chinese Year (which ends in Feb 2015) as the 4th phone in the range is rumoured to come at the end of January!

Meizu have really turned the tables! The company are back in the limelight and are launching some spectacular hardware. So far we have been impressed with the Meizu MX4, MX4 Pro and the m1 note looks like an amazing 999 Yuan phone!

Looking at the range though there is nothing which appeals to users who enjoy a smaller form factor, something similar to the last generation MX3, this could change however.

Gizchina News of the week

Rumours have started to circulate that Meizu might be launching a 5-inch version of the m1 note on January 27th. The rumour began after the above teaser was published on Chinese social networks.

Believed to be called the Meizu m1 mini, this new phone is also likely to get a 64bit Mediatek processor and unibody design, however the rest of the specs remain a mystery.

What do you expect from Meizu and their next big launch?

I think almost the phones Chinese companies release are crap. Just give me a western concept put together in China. All the Chinese phones seem to either be of low build quality, have a terrible android ROM on them and/or aren’t supported software wise/by the community.

Only a few phones can compete with western phones. But that can’t offer the varieties offered here in Europe at least.

But then again, maybe it’s just me having a high standard.

Why do you visit a website dedicated to chinese phones if you think “almost the phones Chinese companies release are crap”? lol

Vivo, make better phones than any ‘western’ brand. Quality is killer, as are the ROMS. Let’s not forget OnePlus as well.

I believe Oppo Huawei Xiaomi ZTE Meizu are also good too. Can’t go wrong with these brands.

Before I start searching for chinese market, I was also sceptical. The word “chinese” in my country is as if you saying “crap/low quality product”. But once I start searching more I found out that we are scammed by all these big companies selling us phones in Europe.
My favorite at the moment Meizu, but also Xiaomi, Huawei, Vivo, 1+1 are the best examples. If you search also a little bit of the companies you will see that they slowly start taking a big piece of the pie lately…
No matter how high are you standards, I’m sure that if you get in your hands one of these companies’ flagships you will be amazed of what they offer and at what price.

I think they’re all awesome. The western doesn’t have a concept bar the iPhone (sort of), and we all know how much people love yelling “clone” at anything slightly resembling it. Low quality? Maybe in 2008. Terrible Android ROM? Opinons on MIUI, LeWa, IUNI, Flyme, FunTouch and Stock differ with users, but they’re anything except terrible. Aren’t supported by the community? Needrom is pretty packed these days.

The only “western” phone is the iPhone. Not much variety there.

That’s not high standards, that’s no standards.

Here’s a list of things that could beat your ‘western phones’.

      Vivo Xshot
      Vivo XPlay 3S
      Oppo Find 7(A)
      OnePlus One
      Zopo 3X
      Elephone P5000
      ThL 5000
      JiaYu G4S
      UMi Zero
      UMi X3
      Vivo X3S
      Huawei Ascend Mate 7
      Huawei Ascend P7
      Huawei Honor 6
      Huawei Honor 6 Plus
      Huawei Honor 4x
The list goes on and on and on.

I totally disagree : there are ‘serious’ chinese phone companies (Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Meizu, Xiaomi …) and there are others… like anywhere in the world. Now, about ‘hardware’, most phones are manufactured in China (even Apple ‘s): check Foxconn!
      Software is another debate…
Talking about’ variety ‘ in Europe, you can choose between Samsung and Sony… Huawei? TCL or Alcatel One Touch? Lenovo? Where do they come from?
      Please, don’t be so’ radical’!

Not to mention zte or huawei. I have bought two huawei g610 for relatives for less than 100 euros each, built quality is really great and the rom is pretty good. They really enjoy their phones. Even a chinese friend said to me that the chinese phones are getting better and better.

Clearly u’ve never held a vivo, oppo, jiayu..I could go on…smartphone.

Honestly I was too at first sceptical about chinese smartphones but after my first, I can comfortably vouch for them as being just as good and in some cases, better than these overhyped western brands..

    @Gizchina:disqus
Is the image indicates ubuntu pre-installed or I didn’t see it well?

    • January 10, 2015

Nope this was just shared my a weibo account ran by Ubuntu in China. They share all Meizu stuff so it does not necessarily mean this is an Ubuntu phone (doesn’t mean it isn’t either)
