OnePlus have announced the next detail about their upcoming smartphone, the OnePlus 2: it’s RAM capacity.
The OnePlus 2 as the name suggests, will be OnePlus’ only second phone. The company is however already quite a name in the tech community, thanks to the decent first product and of course their marketing antics.
OnePlus announced today that the OnePlus 2 would have 4GB of LPDD4 RAM. The announcement was made on the usual channels — OnePlus forums and their social media streams. Pete Lau, OnePlus CEO, also gave some gyaan: “Your RAM is what handles your device’s short-term actions, like apps that are currently running or those in the background. With LPDDR4, you’ll see faster loading times, smoother gameplay, and never-before-seen energy saving features.”
One would expect a OnePlus 2 buyer to have that knowledge, don’t you think?
Nonetheless, the OnePlus 2, as it stands for now:
Gizchina News of the week
- USB connector: USB Type-C
- Processor: Snapdragon 810 (underclocked to avoid overheating)
- RAM: 4GB
- Security: Fingerprint scanner
- Price: Under US$450
- Possible: Multiple versions, dual rear cameras
What do you think about this? Had you expected 4GB of RAM on the OnePlus 2? Feel free to comment below and discuss. Once that’s done, check out other OnePlus 2 news on GizChina.
But will it run Candy Crush Saga ?
Looooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Nope, you need snapdragon 820 , watercooling and 8 go ram to do that…
So what next? QHD resolution display? 5.7″ display? Finger print scanner? IR blaster? And then Camera aperture? and the kinda lens? Lol.
Next year 6gb will be released -_-
Lemme guess, it will have also 32gb/64gb minimum rom.
maybe 128go, the processors should go up to 3ghz and whe should see the first water cooling system in a smartphone.
They should have started the leaks with “No invite system”. That may generate more interest than their hardware leaks. 😉
HAHAHAH ! “underclocked to avoid overheating” while mediatek brace themselves for 2.2 GHZ OCTACORE SoCs !
the point is that we don’t even know if it’s going to work!
We already are at the 3rd version of that disgrace of SoC (which i’d like to remind that it saw the market for the first time only a couple of months ago) and I’ve only heard that they fixed the problem to then find out it wasn’t true.
Is this going to be the good one?
i hope so for OnePlus otherwise they are screwed.
Qualcomm screwed themselves with the 64 bit SoC’s. The 410 is vastly underpowered (on Android, it runs beautifully on Windows Phone) and the 615 and 810 have suffered numerous performance and heating issues. They gave Mediatek the window they needed to catch up.
OPO are indeed screwed big BIG time indeed and add to that the fact they they only release a SINGLE phone per year. bet that’d be cancerous for their PR.
and Intel 2.3GHz !
4gb is overkill
Not if you want to run Candry Crush Saga and all those other top end games on it , Andrew was right …
Don’t forget about Facebook and Twitter! You need at least 4GB for those 3 apps.
if you add instagram then DAMN you need at least 8gb!
640KB is overkill
Booring … yawn 😀
Put a good camera and a Micro SD card slot in it, and I’ll be buying it. I’ve become spoiled with the 64GB + 64GB of my Zenfone 2, and performance is solid for the price.
One Plus ? The only phone manufacturer that you need to beg to have the privilege to buy one of their phone. It is like paying a pimp to work for him… or something like that.
It’s like paying a pimp to work for him then paying him extra to beat you within an inch of your life.
The Android operating systems is still 32-bit correct? So the OnePlus 2 will obviously have 4GB of RAM, since the OnePlus One had 3GB and anything larger than 4GB wouldnot be supported in a 32-bit OS Android (regardless of having a 64-bit CPU).
damnnn, you’re stupid!!
how is it going in a cave dude??
I don’t know, I’ll ask you mom when I get there.
Android 5.0+ supports 64 bit architecture…
Android 5.0 is 64 bit….
Screw OnePlus, I wanted to buy one a year ago and they make it impossible to buy it, so I researched more and found 1000+ better options from chinese manufacturers.
This is nothing more than marketing. The difference between 4GB of RAM and 3 GB of RAM on Android isn’t as great as people think it is (more RAM is a good thing but only to a certain point). Most people can get by with 2GB. What they aren’t telling people is what I would want to know more than anything: the invite system. Is it going to be reincarnated and what will it cost?
i hv oneplus one nd i am eager to see oneplus two in india …….it has a 4gb ram it would be amazing but the price is a little higher for SD810
