Rugged phones remain to be a niche product, but one that Chinese phone makers are eager to conquer. The newest of the breed so far is the Blackview BV5000.
Blackview are usually known for their mid-range phones that feature classy glass and alloy build, but the new BV5000 takes a departure from the past and makes a beeline for the rugged outdoors.
Designed as an affordable yet high-end 4G LTE handset, the Blackview BV5000 is made for tough outdoor environments as such the focus has been on making the phone as strong as possible with a long battery life.

The chunky rubber body is made to be waterproof, dustproof and can withstand knocks and scrapes. A large 4700 mAh battery and energy efficient quad-core chip and HD display means good long battery life, and OTG supports means you can juice up other USB equipment while doing your best Bear Grylls impression.
From the specs we can also see the BV5000 features a 2 mega-pixel front camera, 8 mega-pixel rear, Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, ‘World Mode’ 4G LTE and a new device protection function which prevents the phone being factory reset if stolen.
Colour options will include pearl white and violet black. A release date and final pricing details should be made available soon.
