I was chatting to some like minded Android phone fans today and we got talk about what we would rather have on our phones. We had some interesting points and it made me wonder what would you rather have on your phone?
Below are a series of questions, some are sensible others are meant for fun, well the whole poll is meant for fun. There are no prizes, just the chance to see what we all would rather have on our Android smartphones and add our own commentary in the comments section below.
So if you have a spare few minutes take some time to play “Would you rather…?” and answer the following questions;
Hope you enjoyed our fun “would you rather” poll. If you have anything to add please feel free to below in the comments, and if you have any alternate questions we could have asked please also post those below as we might be doing this again.
I want at least 6″. I liked the variaty in sizes very much. Now it is all 5,5″ 🙁
Tough Choices – Damn
i wonder what Muhammad Yasir chose…
I don’t know, I didn’t see an option for “too expensive”
I can answer for him:
AMAZING camera, good optimization and CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!!!!
Anything over 5 inches is tablet region and should command a much lower price. Other words we pay for compact electronics. Saying that the nice size for me is around a 5 inch screen.
5.5 inches to you is a tablet? To me a tablet is anything over 7 inches. Anything under 5 inches is too small (that’s what she said!).
I am in Bangkok but my home/office is about 10 km from the blasts. My old office is about 10 meters away which is kind of scary. Brings me back to my Navy days in Afghanistan.
I was busy playing the new Madden! Did’t even know anything was going in till the wife called me and said to stay in.
and you said she had nothing to worry about because you were not planning to leave the house until you finished the game. right? 🙂
I told her I had to go get beer and food and then I wouldn’t leave the house till I finished!
Once you start getting bigger than 5.5 inches, most people can’t hold and function with the device in one hand. It stops being a phone and merely a small tablet with phone features.
I don’t have huge hands and I had no problems using a 5.7 inch iOcean X8 with one hand. Obviously it is easier to hold a 5 inch phone one handed but its not impossible with a larger phone, I can even use my Nexus 7 one handed. But what is comfortable me may not be for you.
What a ridiculous statement. Just because the screen is smaller do you think that all the internal hardware suddenly becomes cheaper?? People like you complain when a smaller phone is released with lower spec hardware as you feel the it should be the same as the larger version, you can’t have both!
It’s a fact that smaller components have a higher supply price. Phone makers are pushed for space in design, where tablets design does not unless aiming for large battery life and new hardware features.
I enjoyed the poll Andi. Is it an idea to introduce the Gizchina TOP-5 of the year which can change every month as a result of new tests (factfinding) or products? I noticed you are quit happy with the LeTV Le1. So that would be the number one for starters.
To do something like that you would have to another poll of both the writers of Gizchina and the fans of Gizchina. The LeTV might be his top choice but not everybody’s .
Two poll’s like you suggested would be fine with me. And I know beforehand that every poll will not reflect everyone’s choice. But it will provide some insight.
My top 5 so far this year would be (and this is just phones I have personally used):
1. Meizu MX5
2. Lenovo K3 Note
3. Jiayu S3
4. Asus Zenfone 2
5. Huawei P8
For me it is just a better experience. The S3 is a good phone that is lacking a bit of optimization, especially with the camera. And on the K3 Note the 6752 seems faster. Also I like the design and colors better. Lastly it comes down to support, Lenovo has probably the best support in the industry. They are both very good phones but the K3 is better in my opinion.
thanks! i was actually planning to buy the k3 note til redmi note 2 came along. if you managed to get your hands on the redmi note 2, pls let me know what you think about it.
I will be getting one but probably not for another month, too busy with work now.
I want more news on Innos D6000m; it was supposed to be released in April. I also want more news on the three upcoming phones with backside E-ink displays (Siswoo, Oukitel, Umi).
Some of the answers are a reminder that users sometimes are just not capable of understanding what’s better for them, they just vote with what they are used to. If the average Joe would decide what’s next ,we would still be living in caves.
LOL, its that most people aren’t spec and benchmark whores who wants all the bells and whistles that you rarely use on an overpriced, heavily marketed and hyped up flagship device. People want a decent device that does all the basic necessities smoothly and thats affordable.
This response is typical of someone who can’t decide what is best for him and needs someone in a marketing department at these companies to make those decisions for him. In the world of marketing we love people like you!
For me the NFC is essential, the IR necessary but not essential.
Dual SIM with no SD or single SIM and SD?
Dual SIM with SD!
Several Chinese brands use very close to stock they usually just make a few small tweaks to the menu or add their own apps. And then there is the Nexus and Moto lines.
For me the most important factors when buying a phone:
1. Brand – I would pay a little more for a brand like Xiaomi and know I wont have to deal with a myriad of problems that come with a cheaper phone like Elephone.
2. Camera – I use the camera more than anything, it has to be top notch.
3. Display – I dont care about 2k or 1080p I just want a display with good colors and brightness.
Very interesting to see what the “average” demands are.
And maybe also an easy way to do a market survey for the gizchina shop. =)
Apparently front fingerprint sensor is more popular. But i myself prefer it on back. Why? Because it make phone even more compact as compared to other phone on front at same display size.
And Andy… why the result for rom isn’t appeared in poll? I preferred stock android. I just like essential thing. As light as possible and as clean as possible.
And please for one sim only. It basically reduce your battery life if you use dual sim active. Rather than for dual sim, its better to give it slot a memory for extra storage.
it was fun … and i want my camera to take me to the top on NatGeo … thanks !
Size does matter for me, just not 6″ :). 5″ or 5.2″ with small bezels is what I prefer.
Another question that wasn’t properly worded was the good speaker or camera, what if we want both?? Since the main purpose of a phone is to hear someone, then surely good audio is a necessity and not a luxury?
It’s just for fun, and the idea is you choose the one which is most important to you.
I know that Andi, it’s just that they are the 2 most important features for me and choosing is impossible! I’ve had lots of phones that have had one or the other and I’ve gotten bored with them very quickly because they don’t quite meet my requirements.
Yep I put the camera as I find that spec the most important, but I want loud clear sound too. Other want video sound bass though.
What if you dont want to hear the person? Then a bad speaker is an advantage! Like when my Mother in Law calls me….
I think it is, as i see 5’5 is now “small” to some, or to many. For me, both of them is same, just to big.
And even though, they are best sellers. 5 inchers no one is even looking, at leas not as flagships.
