New YU phone coming 8th September

Micromax subsidiary Yu has been quiet for a while now. It’s last phone, the Yu Yuphoria, didn’t quite make as much noise as its maiden phone, the Yu Yureka.

Yu seems to have realized the need to stay in the news in this cut-throat market, and is set to announce a new phone early next week. Interestingly, this new phone — Yu’s fourth — will be sold via Snapdeal (suggests the interaction between the founders), while the rest — the Yureka, Yuphoria and Yureka Plus — have been Amazon-only.

Invites have already been sent out to the media, addressing the upcoming device as the ‘Next Wonder’ and something that’s created ‘When Future Meets Past – The Next Wonder Will Be Unveiled’.

Not bad.

India-based media outlet 91mobiles also suggests that there might be a power bank announcement to go with a phone. With only 5 days to go, there isn’t much to wait.

The Yureka was a fairly nice device with good pricing and decent performance (despite having the SD615, a chip on which many phones have struggled). The next Yu will most certainly be a budget phone, but it’ll be interesting to see how much budget it’ll be after all.
