Zopo behind schedule for Android 6 updates

zopo android 6 update

Late last year Zopo promised to release Android 6.0 for some of their devices, but so far nothing so what is going on?

Owners of the Zopo Speed 7, Speed 7 Plus and Zopo Color range of phones might be wondering just where their promised Android 6.0 update is?

Last year Zopo promised that an Android M based OS for their newest phones would be released early in 2016, but so far nothing.

Gizchina News of the week

If you are one of the few people waiting for the update though there is some positive news. Apparently Zopo are still working on the update, fixing bugs and testing the OS to the hills to ensure its all nice and optimised as soon as it finally rolls out.

So the news here is the update is coming, but it still remains to be seen if it will be entirely but free (and worth the wait) when if finally does get pushed OTA.

In the meantime Zopo do have the Speed 8 on presale that will ship with Android 6.0 out of the box. What we would like to know is just how many people have gambled on the latest Zopo flagship? Did you order a Speed 8? let us know.

Next Oppo still not able to compete at the 999 Yuan price point

They are not the only ones a lot of brands have been slow to update to 6.0. Personally there is nothing in 6.0 that I can’t live without and I would prefer just a solid working OS with no issues regardless of the version. I haven’t used Zopo in years but last time I did the software was a mess and there was very few updates. Have they changed much?

There are some very nice features in 6.0. For example the new runtime permissions for applications, backup of applications and their data (so that you can restore them when you get a new phone), the new battery saving mode and others.

It is nothing you can’t live without. But it is nice to have them.

Of course there are new feature with added benefits but without a working stable ROM many of them are useless or wasted features. I would much prefer optimization instead of just upgrading for the sake of upgrading.

I was thinking about the Speed 8. But there are 3 reasons why I won’t get it:
    1) No 5.0″ version (like Speed 7 had)
    2) No SD slot
    3) Plastic with metal look, which I’m sure will look terrible after a couple months

Anyway I wouldn’t get anything from Zopo before they fulfill the promise to release Android 6 for older models and before trustful reviews.

The older and new generation Color phones will also get it as well.
