It’s official: Xiaomi Mi 6 will be unveiled tomorrow, priced at $463/$579

Well here we go guys, just as we have informed you weeks ago. Xiaomi official Weibo page announced a couple of minutes ago that Xiaomi Mi 6, their most awaited flagship will be unveiled tomorrow, April 11 at 12:00AM.

xiaomi mi 6

We already knew about Xiaomi’s conference scheduled to take place tomorrow, even Lei Jun had officially confirmed the date, but now that Xiaomi has also verified it, we can all sleep well tonight, before waking up to see the new Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus models. Obviously we already know a lot about the device: its front panels have leaked, we’ve seen its purported Iris Scanner just above the display, we’ve also learned that it will be equipped with Snapdragon 835 SoC, that it will have an ultrasonic sensor embedded in the Home Button etc. What more could you ask for?

Gizchina News of the week

Well, its price perhaps? There are no concrete details on this matter, however  the leaked pre-sale advertising claims the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 6 standard version will cost 3199 yuan ($463), while the higher model should cost as much as 3999 yuan ($579).

Anyway, it’s just one day guys, tomorrow we will be here to let you in on its official unveiling!

Hopefully wrong about the price, would be out of character for them to charge that much. I also wonder if they will announce the Redmi Pro 2 at the same time.

Every year the same rumor coming from weibo with no evidence whatsoever about “next Mi phone will cost twice more than the previous”… after reading this every year since at least mi3 launch, people should have learnt by now…

Is it better to wait for the MI6 or go for a cheaper alternative like the Redmi Note 4X International version or even the MI5S? The MI5S is around 275€ these days. The Redmi Note 4X has Band 20 which is used in my country but the phone is bigger than the MI5S. I do prefer 5.2″ phones and I don’t know if I will get used to a 5.5″ device. I mean that I do have normal hands. I need a phone quickly and can’t afford to wait until the availability of the MI6.

Your help will be much appreciated!
    Thanks.

It is better to wait and see what the Mi6 actually is before making any decisions.

Thanks everyone who replied to my message. You are right Balco, I will wait for the MI6. Hope the MI6 will be sold at a competitive price.

If Xiaomi continues with their usual pricing structure (the one they have used for every new Mi# phone) the base model will cost 1999 yuan. That is currently around $290. That is the Chinese price though, online you will be able to buy it for around $330-350.

Thanks Balco, I am using a basic phone (Nokia 2630) since my Redmi 2 Pro fell in the water. It is very difficult for me to wait for the MI6. I know Xiaomi policy, they will release an ugly white MI6 at the beginning then we will have to wait for a couple of weeks in order to be able to buy the MI6 with black front at a price higher than the white version. I will be patient but if I see a great deal for the Honor 8 I will buy it instantly. 😀

If you live in the US, the Honor 8 is currently $100 off at most retailers including Amazon. Xiaomi might actually be changing their strategy, a few of there recent phones like the Mi Mix only shipped in black.

Hi Balco, unfortunately I am based in Europe (France) and Huawei do not care about us. The best price I have been able to find for the Honor 8 is 320€. I just hope that the MI6 base model will be available multiple color at launch date.

It seems that Redmi Pro 2 is confirmed with SD660. Might be a better alternative too!

I replaced a Mi4 with a Redmi Note 4X, int. version 2 weeks ago. It’s fast and beautiful, batteri lasts almost 3 full days for me. You’ll enjoy the larger screen. After a couple of hours you won’t even notice but wonder how you got by with 5.2″.
