Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 launched with a 5.99-inch bezel-less display and Snapdragon 835

Mi Mix 2 India

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has been officially launched after weeks of leaks and rumors at an event in China. Successor to the Mi Mix, the Mix 2 sports a smaller display but continues the bezel-less legacy of its predecessor.

The Mi Mix 2 has a curved ceramic body which is supported by a frame made out of 7-series aluminium. Xiaomi has touted the phone as being 2.5% thinner, 11.5% lighter than the Mi Mix and 7% smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus. The bottom bezel on the front is 12% narrower than the Mix. The rear camera features an 18K gold plated ring on top. Just below the camera setup lies the fingerprint scanner.

The Mi Mix sported a piezoelectric ceramic driver that received a lot of criticism. The Mi Mix 2 has improved on the same and implemented a system they call “hidden sound guided speaker”. In this system, the piezoelectric ceramic driver is coupled with a 50mW power speaker with a guiding tube. How well will this system perform, only time will tell.

On the spec front, Xiaomi has left no loose ends. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 sports a 5.99 inch Super AMOLED 1080p display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood lies the flagship starrer Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with four different memory configurations. The Mi Mix comes IN 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 6GB/256GB and the special edition version that comes with 8GB/128GB configuration.

On the back lies a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25 micron pixels and 4 axis OIS coupled with a dual LED flash. The front features a 5MP camera with support for face recognition and autofocus. The smartphone is fueled by a 3400mAh battery, a tone down from the 4400mAh on the Mix, owing to the reduction in display size, with support for quick charge 3.0.

On the connectivity front, the phone features Bluetooth 5.0, dual band WiFi and a USB type-C port. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone does come with Global LTE with support for 6 modes and 43 bands. The Mix 2 runs Android Nougat out of the box with MIUI 9 on top.

The 6GB/64GB variant will retail for 3299 Yuan($506), the 6GB/128GB for 3599 Yuan($552) and 6GB/256GB for 3999 Yuan($614), whereas the special edition 8GB/128GB variant will set you back by 4699 Yuan($721).

There is no word on the sale date yet, so watch this space for more!

Of course 6,44 can go into your pocket, especially when it’s a bordeless phone, also who is the “majority”? last time I checked in china where Xiaomi makes most of its money majority like bIIIIIIIIIIIG BIIIIIG screen.

Perfect phone for the buck, screams of premium, such a slim body doesn’t need a bigger battery, it has quick charge, if the single camera is as good as the 2 on the Mi 6, it doesn’t need 2. I will buy it as soon as I can, maybe I will find it with a 400 £, price tag, în a few months.

It seems more of a lite version compared to the first generation mi mix. There should be another pro version of mix 2 with bigger screen and battery & may be better camera set ups

Disappointed by the Mix 2 and Note 3.
Small screen, defeating the “bezel-less” purpose, small battery, cheap processor (Note 3).
Look specially at the placement of the front-facing camera: Lefties will love it, but 97% of the world will block it by just holding the phone.

“The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 sports a 5.99 inch Super AMOLED 1080p display..” Are you sure about this? Other websites showing it uses IPS LCD panel.
