Here’s a hands-on video of the Redmi 5 you might want to check out

Remember how the OnePlus 5T leaked in a full-blown HD video a week ahead of launch. Well, at least the Redmi 5/5 Plus didn’t suffer the same fate (to the dismay of Redmi fans). However, a very short clip of the handsets has leaked via a video uploaded on Vimeo. The 11-second brief video gives us a sneak peak of the rear side of the Redmi 5 just a day before launch.

After taking a glance at the short clip, one thing comes to mind. That back design has not changed much since 2 generations. We personally think Xiaomi should put some effort to hide those antenna lines and make the back look cleaner. In this regard, the Xiaomi Mi A1 can be a reference. With Xiaomi putting an effort to renovate the front, it is only justified that the back too gets a new look.

Gizchina News of the week

Apart from the new clip, we’ve also got the leaked prices of the two devices. Both the Redmi 5/5 Plus were pre-listed on Aliexpress. The Redmi 5 has been tagged with a price of $206.85 for the 16 GB version. While the Redmi 5 Plus has been given a price tag of $258.57 for the 32 GB version. With regards to the price, it is advisable to not assume this info here as final. The final pricing will be somewhat similar but will be announced by Xiaomi tomorrow.

With these prices, Xiaomi is all set to once again trump the market with irresistible devices. The major specs have also just been leaked in spy photos of the two actual products.

Now, all that remains is a formal product unveiling and the availability of the 2 handsets. That we shall know as soon as tomorrow. Let us know your thoughts on the pricing in the comments below.

The industry has been slowly gravitating towards 6-inch displays since last year and with thin bezels that is now more convenient to do while keeping the form factor comfortable.
