A mystery Xiaomi smartphone resembling the Mi 6X passed TENAA. And according to XDA, the handset is the Xiaomi Redmi S2. The publication stated that the certification code (M1803E6E) on TENAA matches the one in their firmware files. Moreover, the TENAA listing also reported specs that match those found by XDA in the firmware.
The TENAA photos show a handset that is almost a copy of the Mi 6X. There is a slight difference in the design of the antenna lines, but besides that, everything is the same. However, looking at the almost certain specs, we can say it is not as able as the Mi 6X.
Fresh information from TENAA is that the Redmi S2 will have a 6.0-inch HD display and a 3,000mAh battery. Furthermore, it will have three variants. Specifically, 2/16GB, 3/32GB, and 4/64GB. The dimensions of the phone have also been revealed as 160.7 x 77.3 x 8.1mm as well as the weight which is 170g. The Redmi S2 will have a ton of colour options according to TENAA. White, Silver, Gray, Black, Gold, Rose Gold, Blue, Red, and Pink have been reported by XDA.
The exact processor is not known but judging from the 2GHz maximum clock speed, it might be the Snapdragon 625 or 630. The handset will run Android 8.0 Oreo with MIUI 9. Camera-wise, the Redmi S2 will have a 12MP + 8MP setup on the back while selfies will be handled by a 16MP shooter.
It is to be noted that even though XDA is calling the handset the Redmi S2, the final name of the phone is not known. Nor is there information regarding its release. However, now that it has passed TENAA, expect release dates to be official shortly.
