HMD is busy making all preparations to release one of its most controversial smartphones to the date, the Nokia X. Despite the fact that the smartphone was showcased in China, it hasn’t been officially released, and that will not happen before May 16, according to a new invite sent to media by HMD.

HMD Global has been holding a 5-day event in China, where all its Nokia smartphones and feature phones are present. However, HMD seems crazy enough to showcase a new smartphone that hasn’t been released. That made all media went crazy about this new mysterious unreleased smartphone, even though it will not be released for at least two weeks from now.

Gizchina News of the week

Although the Nokia X is there, bright for everyone eyes, the smartphone is locked and no one can peek its features and specifications. Everything we know is that the smartphone is about to adopt one of the most recent loved and hated design languages of the industry, the display’s top notch.

The HMD official invitation sent to media doesn’t carry the Nokia X on it. Instead, we have the view of a road junction forming an “X” in the center, also the invitation has a top cutout that resembles the so-called Notch, and finally a tall proportion that could be associated to the expected 19:9 screen proportion.

Curiously, the May 16 scheduled date coincides with the European unveiling of the OnePlus 6. Taking the same date is an attempt to steal all the show of its rival, this isn’t something new among Chinese manufacturers, and HMD seems to be seriously preparing the Nokia X to rival with the competition.
