After appearing on Taiwan’s NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission), the Vivo Y81 is now official in the country. The handset’s Y81 moniker was under wraps earlier when it appeared on Geekbench and other certification bodies like EEC and Ecomm in Malaysia. It had a model number Vivo 1808 and the same model number belongs to the Vivo Y81.
The handset’s model number is close to the Vivo 1802 or Vivo Y83 and so are the design and specifications. However, as we will see, there are some changes to warrant a new launch.
The new Vivo phone has a big 6.2-inch display whose resolution tops out at 720p or HD+. There’s a notch on the top which makes the aspect ratio 19:9. The core processor is the Helio P22 chip that is clocked at 2.0GHz. The processor is aided by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. In comparison, the Y83 of China has 4GB + 64GB RAM and storage.
As for optics, the Vivo Y81 comes with a rear 13MP lens with a f/2.2 aperture and the front has a single 5MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture. It also has face unlock and those AI features that you’re used to hearing about. Lights of the Vivo Y81 are kept on by a 3,260mAh cell.
The Vivo Y81 has a 4,990,000 ($219) price tag and will be available in just a Black colour. .
