Oppo R17 with Snapdragon 670 SoC is now officially official

OPPO R17

While we do know a great deal about Oppo’s R17, the company has actually made the device official today at an event in Shanghai. The handset will go for a price of 3499 yuan (US$ 509 / Rs. 35,600 approx) and is listed for pre-sale on Oppo’s official website. It is also available on Jing Dong and other e-commerce portals as of now.

The Oppo R17 is a quite elegant looking phone resembling the Oppo F9 that was launched a day or two back in India. It has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a notch that has now melted to just a drop. I mean the cutout at the top is just a V-style small housing for the camera. It is topped by Corning Gorilla Glass and is available in Steam Blue and Neon Purple. That screen is the hiding spot for the fingerprint sensor that is first for an R series phone.

Gizchina News of the week

The Oppo R17 is the first device to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 670 chip built on the 10nm process. The R17 keeps justifying its price by including substantial increments and it is quite impressive. It has all the RAM and storage you would need – 8GB + 128GB storage.

As for the cameras, the front is a 25MP shooter which we all know Oppo loves to assort with AI features like face beauty, makeup, 8 modes real-time adjustment. The rear has a setup of 16MP + 5MP – not to mention the some more AI features. The package is rounded with 3,500mAh capacity battery that uses VOOC Charge.

USD 509 for Snapdragon 670. Doesn’t that seem to be a tad expensive?
