Nokia 6.1 to receive Pie update soon; will skip Beta Labs

Nokia 6.1

Nokia’s Beta Labs was a cool beta program kicked off by the Finnish company in the hope of testing all possible bugs in an update before public release. Through Beta Labs, users can report bugs and help the company to shorten the time it would take to release an Android update.

The Beta Labs program included devices like the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus, but apparently, the Nokia 6.1 will skip this process. According to HMD’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, the company decided to not include this particular handset in the Nokia Beta Labs, instead, it will be directly updated to Android 9.0 Pie, which is coming soon.

At the moment, there are a ton of Nokia devices waiting for the Android 9.0 Pie update. Many of these devices were expected to pass through Labs, but considering that the Nokia 6.1 will skip it, we won’t be surprised if HMD adopts this strategy with other devices.

Nokia 6.1 owners will be happy to know that Android Pie is close to reaching the handset. It will bring Adaptive Battery, Gestures navigation and brand new UI and much more to the mid-range device.
