Xiaomi Black Shark Helo Goes on Sale Today

Xiaomi has introduced the Black Shark Helo Gaming smartphone a few days ago in an event in China. The phone was available for pre-orders on Xiaomi’s Chinese website and the release date was supposed to be November 10, but now the device went for its first sale earlier today.

Those who were able to pre-order it earlier can expect the phone to be delivered soon. Though Black Shark’s website has the global page already up, there is no word regarding international launch yet.

The device has the flagship SD 845 SoC, liquid cooling coupled with 6GB/8GB + 128GB and 10GB RAM + 256GB storage options. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, retains the 4000mAh battery with quick charge 3, while there is a vertically aligned (16MP + 20MP) camera on the back of the phone.

Xiaomi tried to preserve the original Black Shark design, but not without some subtle differences. First, the Black Shark Helo is still a notchless device, with a 6-inch 2,160 x 1,080 display, but has ditched the LCD panel for an OLED, so you should expect to see deep blacks and power savings when viewing dark content. The Black Shark Helo has also made a switch from the home button enabled fingerprint scanner to a rear fingerprint scanner, as well as a switch from a single gamepad to two gamepad attachments for either side of the device.

The Black Shark Helo is available in three storage and memory combinations. The base variant comes with 6GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage and is priced at CNY 3199 or USD 460, the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant costs CNY 3499 or USD 504 while the one that houses a mammoth 10GB RAM and 256GB internal storage is priced at CNY 4199 or USD 609.
