One common problem with flagship smartphones is availability. It is a common occurrence for major manufacturers to struggle with stocking for their flagship devices and the demand becomes higher than the supply. On February 14th, Lei Jun, the founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Technology, announced that Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with a “real camera”. Lei Jun also revealed that the full-color Magic Blue version uses nano-scale laser holography + double-layer coating to create such a unique color. From all indications, this smartphone will be a high-demand product and Xiaomi has stated its desire to keep the supply steady.
Zhang Feng, vice president of Xiaomi Group and head of Xiaomi’s supply chain, said that this blue version has great challenges for mass production. However, Xiaomi has been preparing for a long time and will not let everyone down, suggesting that Xiaomi Mi 9 would not be short of supply. In addition to the magic blue version, the Mi 9 will also provide holographic illusion purple and black version with the same value.
Xiaomi internally calls this smartphone “Battle Angel” and this will be its super-powerful smartphone for 2019. In the core configuration, Xiaomi Mi 9 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 flagship platform, triple rear cameras (48MP main lens) and supports an on-screen fingerprint sensor. The smartphone will be officially released on February 20.
