Global Xiaomi 18 Pro Gets a Smaller Battery, How Big is the gap?

Xiaomi plans to launch the Xiaomi 18 Pro worldwide later this year. With it comes a pattern fans know well: the global version will have less battery capacity than the version sold in China. This news comes from a recent leak shared on Weibo.

According to the leak, the global Xiaomi 18 Pro will pack a 6,000 mAh battery with 90W wired charging. In contrast, the Chinese version gets a larger 7,000 mAh cell with 100W charging. That is a 1,000 mAh drop (about 14%), which could mean shorter battery life in daily use.

The larger model suffers a hit, too: Global Xiaomi 18 Pro Max: 7,050 mAh with 100W charging. Chinese Xiaomi 18 Pro Max: 8,500 mAh. The difference: A loss of 1,450 mAh (about 17%).

A Familiar Strategy This is not the first time Xiaomi has made this move: The global Xiaomi 15 Ultra shipped with 5,410 mAh, while the Chinese model got 6,000 mAh. The global Xiaomi 17 Ultra had 6,000 mAh, down from 6,800 mAh in China.

Xiaomi has not said why it shrinks batteries for global markets. Reports suggest strict shipping and safety rules in Europe may be to blame, but the company has not confirmed this. Key Specs for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Both versions of the phone bring strong hardware: Processor: Built on a fast 2nm process, the Pro runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the Pro Max gets the Extreme version.

Cameras: A dual 200MP camera system tuned by Leica-a first for Xiaomi. Display: A flat LTPO AMOLED screen with thin borders. Software: HyperOS 4 based on Android 17.

The global launch is set for fall 2026. Official global prices are not out yet. For comparison, last year's Xiaomi 17 Ultra launched in Europe at €1,499.
