Xiaomi Mi A3 could be in development

In recent times, XDA-Developers editor, Mishaal Rahman, has been doing a lot of work digging up codenames and succinct specs of suspected smartphones and tablet. Recently, he came across some upcoming Huawei devices and now, he has a couple from Xiaomi. Rahman outed three codenames for upcoming smartphones. They are Bamboo_sprout, cosmos_sprout, and Pyxis. The suffix “sprout” often appears in Xiaomi’s Android One phone which has sparked speculation that the Xiaomi Mi A3 could be in development. The Xiaomi Mi A1 was codenamed as ā€œtissot_sproutā€ and the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite were codenamed as ā€œjasmine_sproutā€ and ā€œdaisy_sproutā€ respectively. All this confirms that the device will possibly be the Xiaomi Mi A3 smartphone.

He said that the three mobile phones are based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 series platform. The Xiaomi Android One phones usually come with mid-range chips thus its possible that these names are for the upcoming Xiaomi Mi A3 series. If Xiaomi uses aĀ Snapdragon 700 platform on the Mi A3, it will be quite popular outside China, especially in India.

Of course, the Snapdragon 700 Series processor has been advanced up to Snapdragon 730/730G chip. It is based on the 8nm LPP process and features two large cores + six small core designs. Specifically, it uses a 2 x Kryo 470 (A76) + 6 x Kryo 470 (A55). The CPU clock frequency is 2.2GHz and 1.8GHz respectively while the GPU is Adreno 618.
