Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is finally official – here’s everything you need to know

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is officially among us. Xiaomi has just unveiled it in China. As per tradition, the initial availability is only for the Chinese market with the arrival in the international markets which will presumably take place in the following months. Given the success that Xiaomi’s smart band continues to have, there should be no doubt about the availability in several markets.

Most of the technical features are not a mystery thanks to the many rumors leaked in recent months. Now, it has been confirmed that the band has a larger colored AMOLED display which now has a diagonal of 1.1 inches. In addition, several animated watch faces have been introduced with well-known cartoon characters, at least as far as China is concerned.

Another great novelty is the magnetic charger. Now it will no longer be necessary to separate the Mi Band 5 from the strap to recharge it. The NFC chip is available for mobile payments. We do not know if this time the function will also arrive in global markets or if it will still remain exclusive to the Chinese market. It will also be possible to control the camera of compatible smartphones directly from the smart band.

Finally, the tracing of the menstrual cycle is confirmed. For the rest, the functions should always be the same: pedometer, heart rate tracking, sleep monitoring with REM deep sleep, receiving notifications and tracking of 11 sports activities with support for the PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) score. In addition, water resistance up to 5 ATM is not missing. Also, the barometer has been added.
