Realme 7 5G launched with Dimensity 800U SoC and 120Hz display

A couple of months ago, Realme introduced the Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro as the next big thing for all fans of its standard numbered lineup. The vanilla model came with MediaTek’s Helio G85 gaming chipset, while the 7 Pro came with the Snapdragon 720G. The big icing on the cake of the 7 Pro was the use of a 65W fast-charging technology. This is the first time we see this charging standard on a mid-range phone, in fact, it is faster to charge than several smartphones in the industry. A couple of days ago, Realme teased the arrival of a new variant for this lineup, this time with 5G connectivity. Today, the company unveiled the Realme 7 5G in Europe and India. As you may expect, it’s an affordable 5G smartphone packing MediaTek’s Dimensity 800U 5G chipset. It’s not common to see this SoC going outside of China.

Realme 7 5G specifications

The MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G SoC brings an integrated 5G modem that ensures dual 5G SIM support. It brings an Octa-Core architecture with two Cortex-A76 performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz. The other six Cortex-A55 cores are running at 2.0GHz. The graphical power is ensured by the Mali-G57 GPU. The phone comes paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Storage is capped at 128GB no matter the RAM amount you choose.

The Specifications are built around a 6.5-inch LCD with an FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Once again, Realme reaffirms its name as a company that often delivers high-refresh-rate screens even on the budget segment. The phone also has a top-left aligned punch-hole serving as a house for the 16MP selfie snapper. Since this is an LCD, we have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner doubling as a power button.

Moving around to the back, we have a Quad-camera array. It comprises a 48MP primary shooter featuring a 1/1.73″ sensor with f/1.8 aperture. The secondary sensor is an 8MP ultrawide snapper with a 119-degree field of view and f/2.3 aperture. We have two additional sensors with a 2MP resolution, one is a monochrome module while the other stands as a macro lens.

The phone brings Realme UI based on Android 10 and probably will get Android 11 by the next year. We have a 5,000mAh battery keeping the lights on and it can be charged via 30W charging tech.

Pricing and Availability

The Realme 7 5G costs £279 (~$368,41) in its 6GB RAM with 128GB Storage flavor, however, Realme will be running a Black Friday offer between November 27-30 that will bring the price down to £229 (~$302). On Black Friday, the Realme 7 5G will become the most affordable 5G handset in Europe.

The device will hit other markets pretty soon so stay tuned. Even though India lacks an operational 5G network, Realme promised to bring 5G handsets soon for the country.
