Xiaomi Mi Reader Pro launched with voice search feature

Xiaomi is a popular company due to its wide range of smartphones. However, the company is a giant in smart and electronic solutions with a wide range of products, conventional and unconventional ones. Today, the company has released a brand new e-reader. The market for e-reader still is trending, especially now with the ongoing pandemic. We tend to pass more time with electronic devices in order to distract. Xiaomi’s new product is dubbed Mi Reader Pro. It is a major upgrade over the initial Mi Reader and comes as a direct competitor to Amazon Kindle Oasis.

The first thing that draws our attention is that Mi Reader Pro comes with a big screen with a set of customizations. For instance, users can customize the color tone of the display. It also supports the voice search feature for quicker input of titles. This is just awesome, after all, e-readers nowadays can’t be more than just devices for reading e-books. With the correct smart features, the experience can be greatly improved.

Mi Reader Pro specifications

The display has a 7.8-inch diagonal with an e-ink screen and 330 PPI pixel density. The screen illuminating LED comes with 24-level adjustable brightness and, as aforementioned, users can change the color tone from warm to cold. Users can change the tones depending on the surrounding, allowing for a more comfortable reading experience.

Under the hood, the device has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of Storage. The device has a quad-core CPU and the super outdated Android 8.1 Oreo. Despite the age of Oreo, we assume that it will be enough to provide a satisfactory e-reader experience. The connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and the reader supports local Chinese platforms like Baidu and WeChat Reading. Moreover, Xiaomi implemented some of its own Xiao AI voice functions to offer a smoother and faster browsing experience on the Mi Reader Pro.

Users can transfer books from a phone if both devices are in the same wireless network. This is a good, wireless way of quickly getting your books in the Mi Reader Pro. The device supports all the well-known file formats such as .txt, .epub, .pdf, and even Microsoft Office documents. The device has a 3,200mAh battery that offers up to 70 days of standby.

The Mi Reader Pro comes only in Black and officially costs CNY1,299. The first sale begins at CNY1,099, which is about $165. Unfortunately, the device is only available in China. Hopefully, it will reach International markets in the coming months.
