Xiaomi Mi Human Sensor 2 goes official in China

Mi Human Sensor 2

Xiaomi is well known for its smartphones, computers, and wearables. However, the company has a wide range of “unusual” products, security-related products, transport products, and more. Today, the company announced a new product with a security-centric approach, the Mi Human Sensor 2. The device was launched on the company’s Youpin crowdfunding platform in November this year. The product is focused on motion detection, light and dark recognition, intelligent linkage, and is quite compact and easy to fit in any place. Just one month after the crowdfunding action opened, the tech giant is ready to deploy the product to buyers with a super cheap price tag of CNY 59 (~$9). The product now is available on Jingdong and other platforms in China.

The Mi Human Sensor 2 is quite compact in size and comes with a stand. Furthermore, it supports multiple installation methods such as flat placement, wall pasting, and inversion. The Mi Human Sensor has 130-degrees of sensing and can detect at up to 7 meters with equal precision. You can use it in a room, corridor, or bedside to monitor the movement of people or pets. Furthermore, you can pair it with the Mijia app through a nearby Bluetooth gateway. However, you can also link it with other smart devices in your home/workplace.

It comes with a light sensor and can be paired with smart home devices

The Mi Human Sensor 2 is complete with ambient light and dark detection. Therefore, users will not need to buy a light sensor. You can wake up at night and it will automatically turn on the light after detecting your movement. As aforementioned, the product supports linkage with Mijia IoT products. For example, when you arrive at your home, you can turn on the Mijia Air Purifier remotely. When there is no one in the house, you can turn off the home air conditioner, air purifier, and other electrical equipment remotely from the application.

Unfortunately, the Mi Human Sensor can’t connect to the smart home via Wi-Fi. You can only use it with a Bluetooth gateway or Bluetooth Mesh gateway. Users can use the Xiaomi XiaoAI touch screen speakers and Xiaomi smart Multi-mode gateway.

As aforementioned, for what it offers the $9 price tag is a huge deal. Unfortunately, there isn’t much hope for global customers. So don’t hold your breath for this product right now. This isn’t a surprise as there still a plethora of Mijia-related products exclusive to the Chinese market.
