2020 was a problematic year for smartphone makers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it proved to be quite successful for the market of wearables. Companies like Huami achieved great results in this segment during the entire year. The brand even managed to expand its lines of smartwatches introducing a new Zepp branch or wearables. Back in December last year, the company closed the year with updated versions of its GTR 2 and GTS 2 lineup in China. The devices came with the GTR 2e and GTS 2e moniker. They have brought improvements to battery life and also introduced a new Temperature Sensor. Huami recently brought this device to the USA and now is finally reaching the Indian market.

In a tweet made by Amazfit India, the company announced that it will be launching the Amazfit GTR 2e and GTS 2e in the country on January 19. A video teaser by the company shows the features of GTS 2e like an AMOLED display. The new smartwatch also shines with an AMOLED display, Heart-Rate sensor, Bloody Oxygen Monitoring thanks to a SpO2 sensor as well as other features.

Amazfit GTR 2e and GTR 2e have incremental upgrades over the old models
Both smartwatches feature similar features, however, distinct designs. The Amazfit GTS 2e has a square-shaped dial whereas the GTR 2e brings a round display. They are identical to the previous versions, however, the dimensions have incremental changes. During the China launch, Humi stated that the GTS 2e will give a 14-day battery life which is more than the regular variant offers. Of course, companies tend to make bold claims about their products’ battery life. In the end, the endurance will depend on your usage.
The Amazfit GTR 2e will have a claimed battery life of 24-days. However, this amount can be increased if you use the smartwatch just as a basic watch. This is a massive increase in comparison to the previous GTS 2 and GTR 2. The first devices had a normal battery life of 7 days and 14-days respectively. The new variants will also include new features like a microphone, a new Temperature Sensor, and a speaker.
For India, the teaser suggests the arrival of the Obsidian Black, Dark Green, and Roland Purple colorways. Both smartwatches will pack an AMOLED display, Heart-Rate sensor, SpO2 sensor, GPS, 5 ATM water resistance, sleep monitoring, more than 50 watch faces, and 90 sports modes. The whopping amount of sport modes reached the older models through a software update.
For now, what remains to be seen is what will be the actual price of the wearables in India.
