Huawei has been working on its HarmonyOS which we know as HongmengOS in China for some time. This system is very similar to Android for obvious reasons but it is quite different from Android. The success of HarmonyOS will rely on Huawei’s cooperation with other brands. One Chinese brand that has a strong connection with HarmonyOS is Midea Group. An investor recently asked Midea’s executives if the company will support HarmonyOS in the future.
Midea Group responded that Midea and HarmonyOS are already in active cooperation. As of the end of December 2020, Midea has provided users with more value-added services and cross-scenario experiences through ecological cooperation. According to the company, its HarmonyOS compatible devices are in 7 different categories. Midea also revealed that it currently has 12 products with Huawei’s HarmonyOS.
Midea Group claims that users can distribute Midea home appliances in 3 seconds by using smartphones with the HarmonyOS. Devices like dishwashers, electric water heaters, gas water heaters, water purifiers, and smart stoves will be controllable with HarmonyOS.

World’s first HarmonyOS refrigerator
Interestingly, the world’s first refrigerator with HarmonyOS is a Midea refrigerator. This refrigerator comes with a special zero-degree space to maintain the taste and nutrition of ready-to-eat meat. This way, the meat remains tender and easy to cut without the time-consuming thawing process. There is also a special humidity control space in the box, and the two modes of high and low humidity can be adjusted according to the food. The high humidity level puts fruits and vegetables for long-lasting freshness. However, the low humidity stores dried fruits and tea leaves.
According to the company, this refrigerator has a total volume of 603 liters. The refrigerator compartment volume of 382 liters while the freezer compartment volume is 194 liters. It also has the new Chinese standard level 1 energy efficiency. With its inverter compressors, its energy efficiency is as low as 0.88 kilowatt-hours per day. Furthermore, the noise level is also very low, as low as 38 decibels.
