According to recent reports, a large number of flagships that will use the Snapdragon 898 SoC are in development. From the look of things, the first model to use this flagship processor will arrive in mid-December. So far, all the speculations point to two devices that could possibly launch this chip. There are reports of the Xiaomi Mi 12 as well as the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S series flagships. Now, we have a new set of renders of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The renders show that the overall appearance of the rear of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra still continues the design of the S21 series. The camera area adopts a special fusion design. However, its overall shape makes people think of the Xiaomi 11 Ultra that hit the road in March this year. The rear camera module design is also similar. The module takes the entire up rear of the device, aligns the camera on the left side, and leaves the right side empty. On the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, this right side contains the rear display.
Furthermore, the display of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra seems to have added a curved design. However, it is a slightly curved solution that can effectively avoid the malfunction of the curved-screen (incomplete display).
Samsung Galaxy S22 series speculations
Previous reports show that the Galaxy S22 series will continue the three size models of the previous generation. The standard version will use a 6.06 inches display, the Galaxy S22+ will come with a 6.55 inches screen while the flagship Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will use a 6.81-inch display. All the screens will support a 120Hz high refresh rate.
Furthermore, there are reports that Samsung will further expand the application of plastic models. Only the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will use a glass back cover, while the Galaxy S22/S22+ will all use a plastic back cover.
In the camera department, the reports so far claim that the Galaxy S22/S22+ will use a 50MP 1/1.55 main camera, 12MP ultra-wide angle, 12MP sensor 3X optical zoom. However, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will use a 108MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide-angle, 12MP 3X optical variable sensor, and a 12MP 10X optical variable sensor.
At the same time, Samsung will also work with Olympus to tune this powerful camera solution. With Olympus, the performance of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra should be overwhelming. Many Samsung fans will expect this device to seamlessly top the DxOMark ranking when it arrives.
