Today, Vivo has finally launched the latest Y-series handset in India, called the Vivo Y33s. The handset is powered by the rather powerful MediaTek Helio G80 SoC and runs FunTouch OS 11.1 on top of Android 11. The device weighs just 188 grams.

Vivo is not known for its bang for buck products, however, in recent months it has taken a turn for the better and started offering more competitive products, instead of ones that focused on the optics and only the optics.

The Vivo Y33s is just 8mm slim, making it very easy to hold. The handset features a triple-rear camera setup to the rear, with a primary 50MP snapper that is capable of taking better night shots.

Display-wise, the device offers a 6.58-inch LCD display with a resolution of FHD+. There are thick bezels to the side, which look out of place in a smartphone in 2021. On top, there is a notch for the selfie snapper.

When it comes to performance, the Vivo Y33s is powered by Mediatek’s Helio G80 SoC, an octa-core chip that is offered with 8GB of RAM with the option to expend the same by another 4GB. Storage is capped at 128GB but it can be expanded to 1TB by the use of a MicroSD card.

Cameras are pretty decent too, as mentioned, there is a triple-camera setup to the rear, with a primary 50MP sensor that has an aperture of f/1.8. A secondary 2MP macro lens with an aperture of f/2.4 and a final 2MP depth sensor, capable of offering bokeh effects that can make the background look natural make up the entirety of the camera module.

Towards the front, there is 16MP selfie snapper with an aperture of f/2.0. The device also offers EIS that can allow for enhanced stability when it comes to video taking.

The device makes use of a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging, with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor aiding security. Connectivity-wise, the device offers dual-WiFi, 4G, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS and a Type-C port. Sensors include a gyroscope, ambient light sensor, accelerometer sensor and proximity sensor.

 Pricing and Availability

The Vivo Y33s costs Rs 17,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant. The device comes in two different colours, Mirror Black and Mid DayDream. It can be bought via Vivo’s official site, Flipkart, Amazon and select retail stores. It seems that this could be a good product for the offline market in India.
