Dimensity 2000 is coming – its smartphones will cost about $450

Over the past two years, since the launch of the Dimensity series, MediaTek has closed the gap in the chip market, especially in the flagship end. However, since the launch of the latest Dimensity 1200, there have been not many smartphones with this chip. This is indeed regrettable for the company. A month ago, when MediaTek announced its latest financial report, the company also announced that it will launch a 5G flagship chip by the end of this year. According to reports, this upcoming product may be the Dimensity 2000.

Dimensity 2000

The latest report on the Dimensity 2000 hit the web today. According to the speculation, the Dimensity 2000 will officially launch at the end of this year. However, the first smartphone with this chip will not be official until the first half of next year. Furthermore, the speculation reveals that the price of this device will be around 3000 yuan ($464). From the price aspect, it appears that this chip is competing with the Snapdragon 870. However, in terms of performance, it offers much more. In fact, from the leaks so far, the performance of the Dimensity 2000 is outstanding.

According to reports, the CPU part of this chip will be on par with Qualcomm’s next-generation product, the Snapdragon 898. Some report claims that Dimensity 2000 CPU will be stronger than the Snapdragon 898. As for the GPU aspect, this MediaTek chip will be stronger than the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Furthermore, it will come with better power consumption than the SD888.

On the whole, the Dimensity 2000 will be a powerful product that fully crushes Snapdragon 888. This chip will actually compete with the Snapdragon 898 but will be way cheaper. Analysts believe that this chip will have a huge impact on Qualcomm’s market.

In terms of specific specifications, previous reports show that the Dimensity 2000 will use the Cortex X2 and A9 architecture. The GPU will have the G79 architecture and this chip will use TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process. In terms of battery life and performance, this chip will be more powerful. It is obviously worth looking forward to.

Snapdragon 898 specifications

According to reports, the Snapdragon 898 would use a 1+3+2+2 quad-cluster architecture. In it, the Kryo 780 super-large core is based on Cortex-X2, the Kryo 780 large core is based on Cortex-710, and the Kryo 780 energy-efficient large core is based on Cortex-510 (High frequency) / the Kryo 780 energy efficiency small core is based on Cortex-A510 (low frequency). The Cortex-X2/A710/A510 is ARM’s latest public version design based on a 64-bit v9 instruction set, replacing X1/A78/A55 respectively.
