Huawei P20

The latest version mainly incorporates August security patches and optimizes the stability of the whole system. The current state of the operating system is suitable for early adopters. The public beta recruitment is expected to start in mid-September. Once it enters the public beta phase, that means the system functions and stability are already adequately guaranteed. The implication of this is that there is no major issue with this system as a daily driver.

Gizchina News of the week

Although the Huawei P20 series is about three and a half years old, these smartphones are still getting the HarmonyOS update. With this new software, this series will be as good as new.

HarmonyOS 2 adoption rate is very high

Huawei predicts that by the end of 2021, there will be more than 300 million HarmonyOS connected devices. Of this number, 200 million will be Huawei/Honor devices while 100 million will be from third-party partners. According to the company, after 36 months of use, the sequential read speed of HarmonyOS 2 will drop by only 4.5%. This is better than iOS which drops by 75% over the same period. The sequential write speed of HarmonyOS 2 will drop 0.9%. Also, the random reads and writes will drop by less than 5%. This decline in the iOS system is about 20% to 30%.

Huawei officially released the HarmonyOS 2 for smartphones and other devices on June 2. Within the first week, by June 9, we already had over 10 million HarmonyOS users. In two weeks, this operating system had over 18 million users. After a month of upgrade, HarmonyOS had over 25 million users. Before the end of July, this figure increased to over 40 million. In less than two months, as of early August, this operating system had over 50 million users. As of late August, the system had over 70 million users while the latest statistics show that HarmonyOS now has well over 90 million users. It is obvious that this system will have well over 100 million users before the end of this year. This upgrade is Huawei’s largest system update in its history.
