In all honesty, this is the best time for any smartphone user to have an old Huawei or Honor smartphone. With the release of the new HarmonyOS to very old Huawei and Honor smartphones, they become as good as new. Even smartphones that had no hope of getting any serious EMUI update are now getting the brand new HarmonyOS. According to information on the Huawei Pollen Club, a new round of HarmonyOS 2 beta recruitment has officially commenced. Below is the list of smartphones that can participate in this beta recruitment
- Honor 20 Lite (Youth Edition)

- Honor 20i (including Honor 20i AAPE co-branded version)

The recruitment time for the Huawei mobile phone series is from September 8th to September 14th, 2021. In addition, the recruitment time for the Honor mobile phone series is from September 8th to September 21st. For each product, the company will accept 2000 participants.
It is important to note that before upgrading, you must ensure that your smartphone has over 10GB of internal storage space. If you do not have enough storage space, you will have the risk of an upgrade failure. In addition, make sure that the phone is not ROOT.
Users who sign up for the internal test must ensure that the current mobile phone version is on the recruited baseline version.
To check your version number, go to Settings > About mobile phone, check the version number information. If not currently on the baseline version, first upgrade to this version before registering.
HarmonyOS progress so far
In the first week, by June 9, we already had over 10 million HarmonyOS users. In two weeks, this operating system had over 18 million users. After a month of upgrade, HarmonyOS had over 25 million users. Before the end of July, this figure increased to over 40 million. In less than two months, as of early August, this operating system had over 50 million users. A new report shows that HarmonyOS 2 now has over 90 million users. It is obvious that this system will have well over 100 million users before the end of this year. This upgrade is Huawei’s largest system update in its history.
As of now, over 56 very old models from Huawei and Honor are already getting this update. Most of these devices wouldn’t have gotten any more major EMUI updates. According to Huawei, over 300 million devices (200 million Huawei devices and 100 million third-party devices) will have this update this year.
