vivo OriginOS 7 Launches September 16 With Android 17 and Liquid Glass UI

vivo has confirmed that OriginOS 7 will launch on September 16. The company will reveal the new software at its annual Developer Conference (VDC). OriginOS 7 will bring Android 17 and a major visual update. It will also add new tools for customization, multitasking, storage, and performance.

The biggest change is the new look. OriginOS 7 uses a glass-style design with a more see-through interface. It also adds dynamic lighting and smoother animations. Ice Universe says users will get three styles to choose from. These are Liquid Glass, regular glass, and frosted glass. This gives users more control over the look of the system. You can choose how much blur and shine you want to see.

The lock screen is getting new Liquid Themes. They are designed to work more closely with your wallpaper.

OriginOS 7 will also include a system-wide sticker library. This gives users another simple way to change the look of the interface.

vivo is also adding Atomic Workbench. The tool is made for regular smartphones with a standard candybar design. Vivo has not shared many details about it yet. The main idea seems simple tho. It should bring some of the multitasking features found on larger foldable phones to normal smartphones.

There are some changes that users may not notice right away. vivo says OriginOS 7 uses an "unfair scheduling" algorithm. It will help manage memory and keep animations smooth. The update also adds Storage Compression 2.0. vivo says the feature can free up a useful amount of storage space automatically.

OriginOS 7 is also interesting because of its design. OriginOS 6 was often compared with Apple's Liquid Glass look in iOS 26. The new version follows a similar direction. It puts more focus on blur, transparency, and soft visual effects.
