In December, Xiaomi will unveil its latest flagships in the digital series, Xiaomi 12 series. This series will have three models, Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12 Ultra. This series will be one of the earliest to use Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor, Snapdragon 898 SoC. However, these smartphones will not be the only devices in the Xiaomi 12 series. A recent report shows that the Xiaomi 12 series will also have mid-range versions (Xiaomi 12 Lite) which launch in Chinese and global models
The report shows that the MIUI code reveals three new models in the Xiaomi 12 series. These models come with the codenames “Munch”, “Taoyao” and “Zijin”. The “Taoyao” codename corresponds to the Xiaomi 12 Lite while the “Zijin” corresponds to Xiaomi 12 Lite Zoom. These smartphones will come with the Snapdragon 778G chip (SM7325). Furthermore, they will use a 1080P resolution display with a high 120Hz refresh rate. These smartphones will also come with an under-display fingerprint sensor.
As for “Munch”, the report claims that this device will be the Xiaomi 12T which corresponds to the Redmi K50 series. This smartphone will come with a 1080P 120Hz high refresh screen, an under-screen fingerprint sensor as well as the Snapdragon 870 SoC.
From the naming, it appears that the Xiaomi 12 Lite Zoom will come with some sort of zoom capacity. As of now, there is not much information on these smartphones.
Xiaomi 12 Lite will have Chinese & global versions
According to earlier reports, the Xiaomi 12 Lite will not be exclusive to the global market. The company will also release a Chinese version but this Chinese model will be slightly better. The report claims the Chinese version of the Xiaomi 12 Lite will have better cameras than the global version. However, there are no details of the camera specifications of these smartphones. Nevertheless, what we know is that the main camera will have three camera sensors. In the global version, it will be a set consisting of the main, wide-angle, and macro sensors. The Chinese version of this mid-range deviceXiaomi 12 Lite will get a telephoto camera instead of the macro sensor. This will be a significant upgrade for this lite version.
Xiaomi 12 Lite in both versions should receive a display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. Furthermore, these smartphones will come with the Qualcomm SM7325 chip (Snapdragon 778G).
There is no official launch date or pricing of this series for now. We expect to have more information in the coming weeks.
