Starting in 2019, Google began to release affordable models in addition to flagships – simpler body materials, less memory, less performance and lower cost. But the pure Android, receiving updates in the forefront, and the proprietary camera with all software processing algorithms – remained in place.

Google should not deviate from the traditions of its predecessors and launch the Google Pixel 6a, the announcement of which is expected only in the second half of next year. But today the well-known network informant @OnLeaks is ready to show us how the new product will look like.

This is the Pixel 6 in a mini edition. Google Pixel 6a will be created in the style and spirit of bigger models, and its advantage will be compactness. They promise that the smartphone will receive a flat display with a diagonal of 6.2 inches and the dimensions of the case will be 152.2×71.8×8.7 mm. The protruding block of the main camera was left untouched and two image sensors will be offered here.

The Google Pixel 6a controls are in their usual places, there is a single speaker and a USB Type-C port, but there is no 3.5mm headphone jack. Noteworthy is the presence of plastic inserts for antennas at the ends, which indicates that the frame of the smartphone will be made of metal. It was not possible to find any traces of the fingerprint scanner; which leads to the assumption that it will be into the display and the panel will be OLED.

Gizchina News of the week

There is no reliable information on the characteristics of the Google Pixel 6a. There are only rumors that it will be based on the Snapdragon 778G chipset; will offer 6/8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage memory; and a 50-megapixel sensor as the main one in the main camera.

Google releases Pixel 6 firmware update to improve fingerprint scanning

Google has begun sending out updates for the new Pixel 6. The developer has published this information in a post on the Google Support portal. The new patch will include “minor bug fixes; and some performance improvements for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro fingerprint reader”.

However, the company did not provide any information about the real changes. Information about the poor performance of the fingerprint scanner in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro models appeared last month; Also, users complained about their slow operation and inability to recognize fingerprints on the first try. Google responded that the problem was due to the use of “hardened security algorithms”.

Although Google did not previously mention that the scanner’s slow operation with hardware or software components is associated; the description for the update indirectly indicates that the problem is in the software.
