iQOO 9 will sport Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, iQOO Neo5s the Snapdragon 888

iQOO 9

A couple of months ago, iQOO unveiled the iQOO 8 as the first smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+. Now, it’s natural to expect the brand to be planning the iQOO 9. Apparently, the device will hit the market sometime in the first quarter of 2022 and it will, to no one’s surprise, bring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Today, a set of details have emerged for the iQOO 9. The iQOO Neo5s also had some of its specifications teased, the device will be a flagship killer with Snapdragon 888.

iQOO 9 and iQOO Neo5s alleged specifications

According to rumors, iQOO will unveil the iQOO 9 in January 2022 in China. Hopefully, the device will hit overseas markets shortly after its release in India. The iQOO 9 will pack an AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The handset also has 120 W of fast charging. The flagship will have advanced cooling technology and will allegedly get the micro-gimbal camera from the X series. It’s an interesting advancement, as the company never focused much on the camera department of its “gaming brand”.

It’s not a surprise to see the iQOO 9 sporting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. After all, the chipset is Qualcomm’s latest offering for the flagship market. It’s made on a 4 nm fabrication process, and according to recent reports, it can be either Samsung or TSMC fabrication processes. The chipset brings the latest ARMv9 architecture. It has one ARM Cortex-X2 core clocked at up to 3.0 GHz, three ARM Cortex-A710 cores clocked at up to 2.4 GHz, and four ARM Cortex-A510 cores clocked at up to 1.8 GHz. The chipset also brings a powerful Adreno 730 GPU.

The iQOO Neo5s will come with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage. The device will have a flat screen with a punch-hole cutout. At the moment we don’t know if it’s an LCD or an AMOLED screen. The most intriguing fact is that the Neo5s will play with the “flagship killer” segment with the Snapdragon 888 SoC. It will be better than anything with the Snapdragon 870 or below. The device will run OriginOS Ocean straight out of the box which is hardly a surprise.

iQOO should start its teasing campaign by the end of this month. So stay tuned if you want to know more about iQOO’s next big things for the market. As aforementioned, these devices will eventually escape China, but we don’t know if they will keep their original names.
