Samsung is one of the major players in the foldable smartphone market. The South Korean manufacturer already has a couple of generations of foldable smartphones. However, Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphone should be the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4. Recently, a series of unofficial renders of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 hit the web. Judging from the renders, the Galaxy Z Fold4 will use a left-to-right folding scheme. Furthermore, there are no obvious screen holes (punch-holes) in the inner and outer screens. This gives the foldable smartphone a full-screen design.
The camera module on the left side of the outer screen is similar to the newly released Galaxy S22 Ultra. Both smartphones come with quad-camera solutions. However, there are reports that both the inner and outer screens of the phone will use an under-screen camera solution. Since the foldable smartphone has a major selling point (foldable screen), it can afford to use a “poor” camera. The under-screen camera technology still needs further development. As of now, the image output is not as great as the punch-hole camera.
The renders also show that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 supports an S Pen touch stylus. According to reports, it may directly support off-screen fingerprint recognition, an S Pen stylus slot, and upgrade the body hinge. Furthermore, this smartphone will significantly improve its dust-proof and waterproof design. The other hardware specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 have not been further revealed. We only know that the approximate release time will be in the second half of 2022.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 previous speculation
For now, it is important to note that there is no official information regarding the Galaxy Z Fold4. Thus, all the reports online are mere speculations. According to previous speculations, the Galaxy Z Fold4 should also offer support for the S Pen, however, it will not have a Slot for the S Pen. We know that taking the S Pen everywhere with the smartphone may not be so convenient. Nevertheless, the latest report states otherwise.
The design of the foldable smartphone is very complex. This is why many manufacturers do not focus on this market. The complex design also explains why foldable smartphones have smaller batteries. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 will come with the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen1. However, we will have to wait for the coming weeks to get more information. For now, we don’t have many details about this foldable smartphone.
