Xiaomi Mi Band 5 NFC version fined for inaccurate description

Xiaomi Mi Band 5

Reports out of China show that Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. was fined 80,000 yuan ($12,630) by the Beijing Haidian District Market Supervision and Administration Bureau. The fine is for an inaccurate description of product functions and violation of the Advertising Law. The specific reason is that the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 NFC version promotional page claims that this device supports the “24-hour sleep monitoring” function. However, in truth, the feature has two parts, night sleep records, and sporadic nap records. However, if your night sleep is less than 60 minutes, the night sleep record mode will not record it.

As for the sporadic nap recording mode, it does not record sporadic sleep less than 20 minutes during the day. This means that the “24-hour sleep monitoring” advertised by Xiaomi does not give data for certain sleep times.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 – a top-notch smart band

The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is the latest smart band besides the Band 6 from the Chinese manufacturer. This device comes with a 1.1-inch AMOLED screen that supports a resolution of 126 x 294. In addition to the PPG heart rate sensor, the band also comes with a built-in high-precision six-axis sensor. Furthermore, Band 5 promises 14 days long battery life and supports magnetic charging.

This band comes with 11 professional exercise modes as well as the PAI function. A PAI value of below 100 shows that the user is at higher risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. The NFC version of this band gives access to several payments platforms. It also supports bank card binding, debit cards, and credit cards. This makes some payments seamless. The NFC version also incorporates Xiaoai (Chinese only) and can be your personal AI assistant.
