Today, Qualcomm issued a document to introduce the Snapdragon Sound listening technology. The company also said that more than 40 manufacturers have signed technical agreements with Qualcomm. So they will support the commercial use of this technology. Products will come to market one after another.
What is Snapdragon Sound?
Snapdragon Sound integrates Qualcomm’s innovative technologies in the audio, connectivity and mobile fields to provide high-quality music, clear voice calls, and ultra-low-latency gaming audio experiences for smartphones, wireless earbuds, and headphones.
It works with:
- The new generation of Snapdragon 8 mobile platform;
- Qualcomm FastConnect 6900, FastConnect 7800 Mobile Connectivity System;
- Qualcomm QCC514x, QCC515x, and QCC3056 series of Bluetooth audio SoCs, and the new Qualcomm S5 audio platform (QCC517x) and Qualcomm S3 audio platform (QCC307x);
- Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology;
- Qualcomm aptX™ Adaptive, supports aptX™ Lossless audio;
- Qualcomm aptX™ Voice Ultra-Wideband Voice;
- Aqstic™ Audio Codec and Smart Speaker Amplifier (WCD938x and WSA883x);
- Qualcomm Audio and Voice Communications Suite.
Features It Comes With
At the same time, this technology boasts top-quality sound. Snapdragon Sound uses leading Qualcomm aptX Adaptive technology. Also, it supports the new aptX Lossless audio. So it can provide wireless earbuds and headphones with CD-quality 16-bit 44.1kHz lossless audio, 24-bit 48kHz through Bluetooth wireless connection, and 24-bit 96kHz high-definition audio.
Apart from this, with aptX Voice technology, Snapdragon Sound can support Bluetooth end-to-end ultra-wideband voice. Through 32kHz sampling frequency audio, it will provide up to 16kHz smooth frequency response voice. This will bring high-definition voice to Bluetooth headphones or earbuds.
Besides sounds quality, Snapdragon Sound comes with other amazing features as well. For instance, thanks to the new FastConnect 7800 mobile connection system supporting a series of advanced Bluetooth audio features, Snapdragon Sound can bring a game mode with audio latency as low as 68ms. Plus, it will support a stutter-free gaming experience and in-game voice chat.
Snapdragon Sound can also achieve a gain of 4dB through Qualcomm High-Speed Link modulation technology, and a further 2dB gain through Qualcomm aptX Adaptive technology. Reducing the number of retransmissions and shortening the air time, can better support Wi-Fi coexistence and a more robust overall connection experience. Advanced modulation and coding techniques help improve end-to-end Bluetooth robust connectivity, range, stability, and immunity from interference.
Finally, Snapdragon Sound supports fast pairing. Of course, it supports for a range of voice assistants and the new Bluetooth Low Energy Audio (LE Audio) standard. This technology also brings the best power optimization for smartphones and earbuds by reducing over-the-air time and supporting DSP channels.
