Apple today released Studio Display’s new “iOS 15.5” firmware Beta 2 beta version, the specific version number is (19F5070b). The software was released a week after the Beta 1 release. The Apple Studio Display firmware is designed to improve the functionality of the webcam on the device. All Apple Studio Display models are capable of receiving over-the-air firmware updates. However, this firmware update is limited to Macs currently running macOS Monterey 12.4 Beta. After installing macOS 12.4 Beta, Studio Display users can go to System Preferences > Software Update to install the firmware.
Apple promised a firmware update for the Studio Display in March to fix the webcam issue. The Studio Display has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that supports centered portraits. However, Apple Studio Display reviewers and users have found that the camera consistently produces grainy, washed-out images. According to the company, the system is not working as it expect. The firmware brings updated “camera adjustments, improved noise reduction, contrast and framing”.
